Las Vegas Wedding Story
We Got Married on the Wrong Side of the Drive Thru!!
Date: 07/22/07
User: agentmarnie
Summary: Thank heavens we were able to keep our senses of humor. This Chapel provided absolutely none of the services we paid for, was filthy and disgusting and the owners and employees were rude and hateful.
Content: Be very careful when planning a wedding in one of these venues. 20 of our friends flew into Las Vegas for what we hoped would be a funny and kitchy wedding celebration with an Elvis impersonator. We arrive three days early and called several times to make certain that everything would be running smoothly. We were reassured that it would be perfect. On Saturday,7/7/07 we all put on our formal wear and set out for what we though would be wonderful event. Unbeknowst to us,the air conditioning went down in the chapel, they lost our paperwork which caused our limo not to show up and no one would answer the phone. We hired a limo and driver to get us there from the MGM Grand and when we arrived we were appalled to find that all the guests were made to swelter in the parking lot along without 200 other people waiting for ceremonies. My groom and I were finally allowed entry to the chapel only to find out that they were running 4 -5 hours behind schedule, it was 100 degrees and filthy inside and the staff had no idea what they were doing. Brides in formal gowns (like me) were standing in the nasty hallways, some reduced to tears because of the situation. Members of the staff were using abusive and foul language and completely and were not concerned with the lack of a/c or the fact that this was an important day in the lives of their clients. After one hour and 20 minutes we finally realized that the staff could not find our paperwork so we managed to grab a minister, closet our selves in the tiny area used for drive-thru weddings and have him perform the ceremony without our rings or our guests or any of the other amenities that were to have been provided. We paid the minister directly and got the heck out of there. By this time, brides were screaming and yelling and as we exited the building, the police were there because two of the brides had assaulted employees of the chapel. Our wedding party of 20 met up with us back at the MGM Grand where we simulated the service with one of our friends and exchanged our vows and rings. Fortunately, we were able to keep our senses of humor but I truly feel sorry for the younger brides who had their hearts set on this being a perfectly wonderful day in their lives. The local news on Sunday ran a story about the nasty place and showed several of the brides in tears. I would not recommend this chapel because of their greediness. They were performing so many walk-ins that they ignored those of us who had pre-paid and had reservations. When we tried to get a refund, their comment was "FAT CHANCE"
