Las Vegas Wedding Story
First Family Wedding in Vegas
Date: 06/17/06
User: Hitchy
Summary: Planned a wedding trip with 40 of our closest friends and family May 19, 2006
Content: My GF (now wife) and I were engaged during a Canadian casino trip February 14, 2004 and decided the only place for us to truly feel at home getting married would be in Vegas.
In 2005 we contacted the Bellagio about a possible wedding on the terrace overlooking the fountains. We traveled from Toronto to Las Vegas to gamble and see the location. We found after getting there that the terrace is only able to hold 35 people including the bride, groom, and minister. We'd already had more confirmations before that so we decided to go and see the Venetian.
The next trip we book an appointment with the Venetian to see their wedding bridge. We know that the chapel setting just won't be right for us. We view the location and confirm that 50 people may attend the ceremony. We book it and a hospitality suite for a Champagne toast after the ceremony.
I highly recommend the Venetian wedding bridge as a place to get married. The planner we had was excellent and she took care of our every need. The Venetian photographer stayed beyond her one hour allotment to ensure we had all the photos we wanted. We were permitted to fly our own minister in the for ceremony (from PA). I know that many places (includng the Bellagio) won't allow a couple to do that. The Veneitan includes a ride on their white wedding gondola as a gift. It's a great time to relax after the ceremony.
After the champagne toast, we decided to try to get dinner. Still dressed in our wedding formal wear, we walk to the information desk at the Venetian. They mention that the steakhouse is completely book and we won't be able to get in, although we can walk down for a look. We approach the Maitre D and asked if we would be able to be seated. He asked us to wait for two minutes. When he returned he asks that we follow him. We are seated and the waiter brings out an appetizer on the house as a gift for our wedding. We throughly enjoy our dinner (the a la carte dinner, after champagne and a beer was only $160) and we call it a night.
