The Tropicana is certainly not the poshest hotel and casino is Las Vegas. In fact, the outside of the Tropicana is a bit old and dilapidated compared to the new billion dollar mega resorts that have taken over the Las Vegas strip. Despite the Tropicana’s age, I was pleased with its wedding chapels. The Tropicana’s Island wedding chapels are unlike any I have seen in Las Vegas. While many other Las Vegas hotels match the theme of its wedding chapel to the theme of the hotel, none has done as nice of a job as the Tropicana. Decorated in the Tropicana’s island theme, the Tropicana’s wedding chapels are a great location for an outdoor Las Vegas wedding. The décor has an island flare, but is not over the top. The wedding chapel is a free standing structure that sits high above the Tropicana’s pool. The building is tropical and hut like with its grass roof and all wooden structure. The entrance to the wedding chapel is a bridge that crosses over a one of many ponds. The forefront of the wedding chapel is a bamboo wall. Aside the wall is artificial rocks and greenery. The ceiling of the Tropicana’s wedding chapel has several sky lights which cast a nice amount of natural light into the wedding chapel. The Tropicana’s wedding chapel can seat 84 guests. The seating consists of individual chairs covered in white fabric and decorated with a clear bow. The seating in the Tropicana wedding chapel is the only hint that this is a wedding chapel. The Tropicana’s other wedding location is an outdoor gazebo. The gazebo is decorated on the outside with multi-colored plastic flowers – not my favorite. On the inside of the gazebo, light colored tattered plastic hang. The gazebo, like the wedding chapel, sits above the Tropicana’s pool area. The While the pool is a bit of a distraction, the Tropicana did a good job of setting the gazebo in a semi-secluded area. However, I could still faintly hear the pool music. I would recommend booking the gazebo in October when the Tropicana pool closes. Another distraction was the noise from the surrounding waterfalls. The Tropicana’s gazebo seats only 12 wedding guests. The seating is not covered so it may be extremely hot in the summer months. For brides and grooms wishing to be married in a tropical Hawaiian type setting will love the Tropicana’s Island wedding chapel. Service Rating: 3 I was pleased with the service I received from the Tropicana chapel staff. The staff was not as professional as the staff at some of the high-end wedding chapels, like the Venetian or Wynn, but I was helped as soon as I entered the office and the staff was more than happy to show me around. The Tropicana’s wedding chapel office is small. I was shocked to find out that the Tropicana’s bridal dressing room is located in the chapel office. The bridal dressing room, if you can call it that, is a small room that resembles a department store dressing room. Privacy is not an option since the dressing room is located within two feet of the chapel staff’s desks. The bridal dressing room can fit no more than three people- and this would be a scrunch. The wedding ceremonies at the Tropicana last about 8-10 minutes. While the wedding packages include use of the wedding chapel for 30 minutes, the rest of the time is spent taking photos. One thing I liked about the staff’s service at the Tropicana Island wedding chapel is their flexibility. The chapel staff told me that if the bride decides last minute that she would like to change her wedding location from the gazebo to the chapel or vice versa because of wind, heat or any other reason she may do so. I thought that this was nice since you can never account for the weather in Las Vegas. The chapel staff also informed me that Saturday night are the worst time for wedding ceremonies because of the loud music and guests that are at the pool.
