Editor's Review - Rio Wedding Chapel Chapel
Quality Rating: 3
The Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada has three indoor wedding chapels: The Gardenia, The Roses, and Lily of the Valley. Each wedding chapel at the Rio is identical except for its focal point and size. All of the Rio wedding chapels are decorated in neutral ivory and beige tones, has heavy beige window coverings, and guest seating consisting of individual chairs covered in ivory fabric decorated with bows.
The focal point of the Gardenia wedding chapel at the Rio is an iron gate decorated with Gardenias and Ivy. On each side of the gate sits a large bouquet of Gardenias. The Gardenia is the smallest Rio wedding chapel seating up to 50 wedding guests. Another feature of the Gardenia wedding chapel is the full size white piano. The piano adds an elegant touch.
The Roses wedding chapel at the Rio seats up to 80 wedding guests. The focal point of the Roses chapel is a rose trellis decorated with light pastel silk roses and ivy. Aside the trellis sits large, matching silk rose bouquets. The Roses wedding chapel also has a piano; however, the piano is not visible to guests.
The largest Rio wedding chapel, Lily of the Valley seats up to 125 guests. Unlike the other two wedding chapels that are traditionally shaped, the Lily of the Valley is set at an angle because of the odd shape of the wedding chapel. The focal point of the Lily of the Valley is five tall columns. Two of the columns are decorated with silk floral bouquets.
Overall, I liked that the Rio wedding chapels because they were clean, neutral, and traditional. None of the wedding chapels were overdone or gaudy looking. However, the Rio’s clean look is dangerously close to being boring.
In addition to its indoor wedding chapels, the Rio advertises three different outdoor wedding venues. However, when I asked to see the outdoor venues I was told by the Rio wedding staff that none of the venues were set up.
Service Rating: 2
When I entered the Rio wedding chapel, no one was present. I then began to show myself around and take pictures. About five minutes later, a staff member discovered me and seemed quite upset that I was walking around unaccompanied.
After this a different staff member gave me a tour of the Rio wedding chapels. She was professional, nice, and friendly. However, because the chapel is closing on March 31, 2007, and the staff will no longer be employed the staff at the Rio is not very eager to help.
The Rio offers many of its wedding services A La Carte. This is a great option for couples wanting to customize their wedding ceremony. Many of the Las Vegas wedding packages include services that couples may not want, but have to pay for anyway.
The Rio has two identical bridal dressing rooms. The dressing rooms have floor length mirrors and plenty of countertop space. Like the Rio’s wedding chapels its bridal dressing rooms do not have a lot of decorations, but they are clean and orderly.
I scored the Rio’s service a “2” because I was not impressed with the attention or service I received. I expect the service at a hotel and casino wedding chapel like the Rio’s wedding chapel to be better than the service at an independent wedding chapel. It was not. In my opinion, service is a major reason brides pay so much more money for the use of hotel owned wedding chapel. Also, I was very disappointed that the Rio’s outdoor wedding chapels were not available for viewing. How can a bride make an informed decision about a wedding chapel if she cannot see it?
