Set in the center of the entrance is a clear display counter filled with cheap, wedding nick knacks for sale. After continuing down the hallway toward the Excalibur’s wedding chapels, I had no idea what to expect. The hallway was completely mismatched going from crystal chandeliers in one corner to more clear displays filled with tacky souvenirs. This chapel was defiantly missing a cohesive theme. The Hallway leads to the wedding chapel’s reception area. I didn’t care for this décor either. It was the kind of furniture you’d expect in your grandmother’s living room: old white couches, ugly silk flower bouquets and a montage of crappy nick knacks. Despite my distaste for the Excalibur wedding chapel’s entrance and reception area, the wedding chapels were lovely. The Excalibur has two indoor wedding chapels: a small and a large. The Excalibur's large wedding chapel can seat up to 70 guests while the small chapel can accommodate 20 guests. The Excalibur’s wedding chapels are unlike any other I have seen. Most wedding chapels have a sort of flowery, spring time feel about them. I don’t know that I can describe this accurately, but the Excalibur’s wedding chapels have more of a winter feel about them. I think this comes from the wedding chapels’ medieval styling. The Excalibur wedding chapels have high vaulted ceilings that are intricately crafted with lots of wooden details. Lighting the wedding chapels are crystal chandeliers. But these chandeliers are unlike most. The Excalibur’s chandeliers have a medieval feel to them and are shaped to resemble a king or queen’s crown. On each wall is a large stain glass window (of course these are foe windows- no actual light comes through.) The Excalibur’s wedding chapels have a lot of greenery within them. The greenery is a mixture of white silk flower bouquets and large Christmas lighted plants. The seating in the Excalibur’s wedding chapels consists of individual chairs. The chairs are cherry wood and covered with a light blue fabric. The cherry wood chairs match the rest of the wedding chapels’ furniture which is cherry wood as well. I think the décor of the Excalibur’s wedding chapels would be a beautiful setting for a winter wedding. From the moment I entered the Excalibur’s wedding chapels I kept picturing a lavish winter wedding taking place there. Service Rating: 2 The service at the Excalibur wedding chapels was not much better than the tacky hallway and entrance decorations. When I entered the Excalibur wedding chapel’s reception area there was one woman staff member present. After showing myself around the wedding chapels, I approached the woman and asked her for a few moments of her time to answers some of my questions. The woman was pleasant enough, but I rated the service a 2 out of 5 for the following reasons. First, the woman did not greet me as soon as I entered the chapel; rather I approached her after looking around. Second, like Caesars Palace’s wedding chapel brochures, the Excalibur’s wedding chapel brochures were out-of-date. Third, I found out from the woman the following facts about the Excalibur wedding chapels that I did not like: (1) when you book your wedding you are not assigned a personal wedding coordinator, (2) more than one wedding takes place at a time, (3) there are no room discounts for the bride and groom or wedding party, and (4) there is no bridal dressing room. Overall, I was underwhelmed with the service at the Excalibur wedding chapels. I thought the staff’s service lacked the personal attention that a bride desires. Also, for a large hotel and casino I was surprised that the Excalibur’s wedding chapels lacked in simple amenities like a bridal dressing room. Excalibur Canterbury Wedding Chapels Chapel News |
