Editor's Review - Mandalay Bay Wedding Chapel Chapel

The wedding chapel at the Mandalay Bay is exquisite! The décor is a perfect blend of luxury and contemporary styling.
When you enter the Mandalay Bay’s wedding chapel you are instantly confronted with a dark wood reception desk that sits in the middle of the waiting area. The colors of the waiting area match the wedding chapels perfectly. This is important because it makes the wedding chapel area seem like it was part of a cohesive plan, unlike some of the other wedding chapels like the Excalibur’s where the décor of the chapels is completely different than the décor in the chapel’s reception and waiting areas.
The walls of the Mandalay Bay’s reception area are painted a rich brown. The floor is carpeted in a very contemporary pattern of ivory and brown swirls. The most fabulous thing about the Mandalay Bay’s reception area and its wedding chapels is the abundance of natural light. In both the reception area and the wedding chapels the back walls are gigantic windows that look out over the Mandalay Bay’s property. In my opinion, wedding chapels that have natural light like the Venetian wedding chapel are the most beautiful because the chapels don’t have an artificial feel to them.
Huge glass vases filled with calla lilies decorate the reception area. The seating is a mix of champagne velvet colored chairs and contemporary camel colored benches. Very modern!
After being so pleased with the reception area, I was excited to see the Mandalay Bay’s weddings chapels. The chapels were all that I imagined they would be.
The Mandalay Bay has three wedding chapels: the Silver Chapel, Gold Chapel, and the Platinum Chapel. As with most hotel owned wedding chapels, the only real difference is the amount of guest seating available in each.
The Platinum Chapel seats up to 100 wedding guests. Not only is the Platinum Chapel the largest chapel it has the best view! The huge window behind the podium in this chapel has a view of the lavish landscaping at the Mandalay Bay.
The Gold Chapel seats up to 50 wedding guests. The view from the Gold Chapel is of the lazy river at the Mandalay Bay pool. I worry that this could be a distracting background to a solemn wedding ceremony. However, there are several different layers of curtains in each of the chapels that can be drawn. This would most likely remedy the problem, but as I said, I love that natural light.
The Silver Chapel also seats up to 50 guests. I prefer both the view and the layout of the Silver Chapel to that of the Gold Chapel. The view from the Silver Chapel is of the pool, but it’s not a distracting view like the Gold Chapel’s. Also, the entrance to the Silver Chapel is a “L” shape. Even though the Silver Chapel is about the same size as the Gold Chapel, its “L” entrance makes it seem a bit larger.
In all three of the wedding chapels the guest seating consists of individual chairs covered in champagne colored velvet. These chairs look gorgeous! In fact, I would love to have them in my house they are so grand.
Equally grand are the walls of the wedding chapels. The walls are covered in complimentary silver velvet. Also adorning the walls are long rows of lighted crystals. They are kind of a modern spin on the classic crystal chandelier.
Another great feature of the Mandalay Bay’s wedding chapels is that all three chapels have a piano that is played during the wedding ceremony. Also, Mandalay Bay has both bridal and groom dressing rooms. I thought this was a great touch- why are the grooms always left out? I was surprised that the Platinum Chapel’s bridal dressing room is the smallest of the three and that none of the dressing rooms have 3-way view full length mirrors.
I highly recommend the Mandalay Bay’s wedding chapel. In fact, I am thinking of booking there myself.
Service Rating: 4
Service at the Mandalay Bay was what I would expect from a top notch Las Vegas hotel and casino. I liked that I was instantly greeted by a chapel staff member. Although no one walked me through each chapel, like the staff did at the Wynn, I did not feel ignored like I do at some of the other Las Vegas wedding chapels.
At the Mandalay Bay, the staff is professional. They are dressed in uniform and act with the courtesy that the large hotel and casinos demand. The staff member I spoke with was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions.
Like other top notch hotel and casino wedding chapels, when you book your wedding at the Mandalay Bay you are assigned a personal wedding coordinator. This person is designated to your wedding and will arrange all of the details for you. Also, attention to your wedding may be greater at the Mandalay Bay because the wedding coordinators only handle about 10 weddings a moth. This is much smaller than most hotels where the wedding coordinators handle between 15-30 weddings a month.
Another feature of the Mandalay Bay’s wedding chapel is that there is a flat $250 upgrade fee for weekend weddings. Usually, wedding chapels have different prices for all wedding packages depending on the day of the week the wedding is booked on. I like the one price feature because I think it’s just easier.
Overall, I was happy with the service I received at the Mandalay Bay’s wedding chapels. As I said, I was happy enough to consider this venue for myself.
